Hasan Ali Khan

Hasan Ali Khan started his business career in 1969 by establishing a large flour mill in the interior of Sindh at Sukkur which he ran successfully until its nationalization by Mr. Bhutto's government in 1976. He left for Dubai to setup a business in association with International Timber Corporation (ITC), one of the largest building material conglomerates of U.K. He successfully operated the business for three years in U.A.E in joint venture with the Galadari Group. In the meantime, flour mills were de-nationalized and he returned to Pakistan to negotiate a joint venture with a French multinational group for the launch of their (LU Brand) biscuits in Pakistan.
In 1985-86 Continental Biscuits Limited was created as a joint venture between Hasan Ali Khan and the French food multinational giants, Danone, one of the largest manufacturers of food products in the world. Within the last 10 years Continental Biscuits Limited has become the largest manufacturers of biscuits in Pakistan with a net sales turn-over of approximately Rs. 5 billion. Both Hasan Ali Khan and the Danone Group over the years took the company into major expansions at Sukkur. The total investment at current market value is estimated over Rs.1.5 billion.
The French Government conferred the French award of "Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite", to Hasan in November 2004 in recognition of his services.
Hasan has been active in a number of industries and community organizations and serves on the Board of Governors for various universities. He was a Member, Managing Committee for the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce & Industry and was the Chairman of Sub-Committee on Investment, Infrastructure, Law & Order and Security. He has also been the Chairman of the Sub-Committee of the Chamber for Intellectual Property Rights. He is on the Board of Governors at IBA Sukkur, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur and Ziauddin University Hospital, Karachi. He is also on the Board of Directors of Pak Arab Refinery (PARCO).
He has attended many seminars and international conferences on finance/commerce and business management in countries like China, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and France. Hasan is a life long entrepreneur and philanthropist who believe seriously in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). For the last six years, together with the office of French Consul General, CBL has been the sole sponsor of Al-Mehrab Tibbi Imdad, a charitable organization creating hospices for the terminally ill poor patients in the country.
